The rugged mountainous interior is crossed with hiking trails and dotted with thousands of ‘nuraghi’ – mysterious Bronze Age stone ruins shaped like beehives.

Corsica is a much smaller island and belongs to France. It has a low-key feel without any night life, and many of the accommodation options are much simpler. With nearly half the island falling within Corsica Natural Park, it is perfect for walking and cycling holidays, ranging from gentle trails to the challenging GR 20. Water sports are also popular, as is eating out.
