Norway offers some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, and the Norwegian fjords are simply breathtaking. This seafaring country has an extensive coastline, with deep blue fjords that penetrate inland, precipitously flanked by stunning mountains and waterfalls. In the historic capital of Oslo you can explore this country’s Viking heritage, before travelling by road or rail to beautiful fjords such as Eidfjord, the innermost part of Hardangerfjord, and Sognefjord - the largest and deepest in Norway. You can walk on glacier, ride the scenic Flamsbana ‘corkscrew’ railway and explore pretty Bergen, whose colourful old port of Bryggen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Further north you can drive through the remote and dramatically beautiful Vesteralen and Lofoten islands, where you can see puffins, sea eagles, porpoises and whales. As this part of Norway falls within the Arctic Circle, it is the ‘land of the midnight sun’. However from September to April, once the clear skies start to darken, you may be fortunate enough to witness the spectacle of the Aurora Borealis - the amazing Northern Lights which burn across the sky. You can also take a thrilling expedition cruise around Spitsbergen Island, to photograph otherworldly Arctic scenery and enjoy superb wildlife encounters with majestic polar bears, seals and walruses. You will also see huge colonies of seabirds in their towering cliffside rookeries.
