SAMPLE ITINERARY

There is a wide choice of Caribbean cruises – this is one sample itinerary, so ask us for advice on the right cruise itinerary for you. All pre- and post-cruise arrangements can be tailor-made to your needs.

Day 1: Fly to Miami

Today fly from London to Miami, a bustling metropolis situated on the southeast coast of Florida in the United States.

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in this vibrant city, where Spanish is widely spoken.

Days 2 to 5: Explore Miami

The next few days are free to explore Miami, which is famous for its warm climate and miles and miles of sandy beaches.

Miami Beach is actually situated on an island, connected to the mainland by a series of bridges. Wide beaches stretch all the way from North Beach Oceanside Park, past palm-lined Lummus Park, to South Pointe Park and pier. The southern end, South Beach is popular with celebrities and has many pastel coloured Art Deco buildings, especially along Ocean Drive.

Whilst on the island, you can shop and people-watch on glamorous Lincoln Road Mall with its sidewalk cafés and many cultural venues, such as the Colony Theatre. You can also stroll along pedestrianised Española Way, where you will find a slice of old world Europe.

On the mainland, Little Havana is Miami’s vibrant Cuban heart, with Latin American art galleries, live Latin music, busy restaurants, and cafes with walk-up windows that sell Cuban coffee to cigar-smoking patrons. On Calle Ocho, locals discuss politics over dominoes at Maximo Gomez Park - dubbed ‘Domino Park’ by locals. You should make a point of visiting the Wynwood Walls, an outdoor museum dedicated to Miami’s amazing street art, whilst the Cubaocho Museum tells the story of Cuba via art, musical performances & a bar specialising in rum. The historic Tower Theatre screens independent and revival films.

Other sights to explore in the city include the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, which occupies four buildings and includes an aquarium and planetarium. The Adrienne Arsht Centre For Performing Arts is situated in an historic Art Deco building and arranges art exhibitions, as well as opera and ballet. For modern art visit the Rubell Museum, which has over 7,000 contemporary works of art, or The Bass at Miami Beach.

South of downtown, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a surreal Italian Renaissance-style villa situated in lush, laid-back Coconut Grove, with meticulously landscaped gardens and a sprawling bayfront terrace. In this area you can also visit The Kampong Botanical Gardens. Further south you will find the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, the historic Deering Estate and Miami Zoo.

Between downtown and Coconut Grove, the Rickenbacker Causeway links Virginia Key and Key Biscayne to the mainland. At the southern tip of Key Biscayne you will find Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, a 400 acre beauty spot with beach access, where you can climb 109 steps to the top of South Florida’s only lighthouse.

We also highly recommend a day trip to the nearby Everglades, a massive wetlands covering 1.5 million acres, usually explored by airboat. The Everglades are home to alligators, cranes, turtles, manatees, panthers and a host of other birds and wildlife.

Day 6: Embark on Cruise

This afternoon embark on your Caribbean cruise.

After settling into your cabin, explore your ship and discover its superb facilities including swimming pools, many leisure facilities and entertainment.

Day 7: At Sea

Today is at leisure to relax at sea and enjoy the many facilities of your ship.

Lounge by the pool, pamper yourself at the spa, keep fit at the gym or enjoy the onboard entertainment. Also savour the variety of delicious food on offer, with numerous dining options.

Day 8: Jamaica

We dock early today in Ocho Rios, a port town on the north coast of Jamaica that was originally a fishing village but is now a busy resort with a lovely bay beach lined with hotels.

Jamaica is famous for its lush tropical rainforest, rivers and waterfalls and this beauty is best seen at the stunning Dunn’s River Falls, where you can trek through the rainforest and climb up to this massive terraced mountain waterfall with its lovely lagoon pools. Once you reach the waterfall you can enjoy a massage of the water on your back or simply enjoy the tropical foliage, bamboos, palms and wildlife that surround you.

The Mystic Mountain adventure park in Ocho Rios has several adrenalin-inducing ziplines, as well as a 1,000m tree-lined bobsled track that winds down the mountain through the rainforest.

Day 9: Grand Cayman

We spend today at George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands known for their luxury beach resorts, stunning coral reefs and multi-coloured waters.

George Town is home to the Cayman Islands National Museum and the ruins of colonial-era Fort George. On the west side of the island you will discover Seven Mile Beach, a crescent-shaped stretch of sand flanked by luxury resorts that is regarded as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Across the bay at North Sound, you can swim with stingrays in the shallow waters of the sand bar.

Other island attractions include the Butterfly Garden, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Gardens and the Blue Iguana Reserve.  You can also browse in the Cayman Craft Market, absorb the lively vibe of Camana Bay or immerse yourself in some culture and heritage in historic Pedro St. James.

Day 10: Cozumel, Mexico

Today we dock in Cozumel, an island off Mexico’s beautiful Mayan Riviera.

Don’t miss the opportunity to take a guided tour of the fascinating Mayan ruins at Tulum, where you’ll uncover 13th century history while enjoying wonderful views over the picturesque Caribbean Sea. This archaeological site has over 60 restored buildings, including  the clifftop Castillo, built as a watchtower, and the Templo de las Pinturas with a partially restored mural. Your knowledgeable guide will explain the meaning of some of these hieroglyphics and carved figures, giving you a deeper understanding of Mayan history.

Day 11: At Sea

Relax and enjoy a full day at sea.

Day 12: Bahamas

We dock at one of the islands in the Bahamas today, where you can spend the day relaxing on one of its glorious beaches, with opportunities to snorkel and dive.

In the afternoon new passengers will board the ship, as you embark on the second week of your voyage.

Day 14: At Sea

Relax and enjoy another day at sea.

Day 15: Puerto Rico

This morning we dock early in San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. This alluring archipelago is an unincorporated USA territory that has been moulded by Spanish, American and Caribbean influence, giving it a unique culture unlike any other country in the Caribbean.

Old San Juan features colourful Spanish colonial buildings, crumbling historical architecture, and the massive 17th and 18th century fortresses of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and La Fortaleza. Puerto Rico has dazzling beaches, coral islands, waterfalls and lush forested mountains. The shallow tropical waters make it fantastic for snorkelling and diving.

Day 16: US Virgin Islands

Today we dock at Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the US Virgin Islands, located on the island of St. Thomas. Originally a Danish colony (the Danish West Indies), it was purchased by the United States in 1917 and is now an unincorporated USA territory.

Explore its fascinating Danish colonial architecture, including Blackbeard’s Castle, a 1600s watchtower with 99 steps. If you climb to the top you will be rewarded with panoramic views. The 17th century Fort Christian is now a museum, with interesting art and artifacts. East of town you can take the Skyride aerial tram up to Paradise Point.

You can also visit St. John Island, with its tropical foliage, rich wildlife and the ruins of the Annaberg sugar plantation. Trunk Bay offers beautiful views of the beach and Bordeaux Mountain.

Days 17 & 18: Day at Leisure

Relax and enjoy two more days at sea.
